Frequently asked questions
Hajj Shifting (Azizia)
EITHER An upmarket high cost tour. Keeps you in 4 star upwards hotels. Takes you to Makkah first and keep you in such top notch digs for a few days (6 days or so). Then moves you to Madina and keeps you in equally top range hotels. Brings you back from Madina on 5 Z Hajj, around three nights before you are moved to Mina camps (probably VIP camps in the Europa site or private camps near jamaraat) OR An economy/medium priced package. These packages are for longer period of stay. Hence, either you will be taken to Makkah well before haj and transferred to Madina. From Madina to Azizia or similar until hajj is over and you are returned back to your country without being brought back to Makkah.
PROS: Cost effective. You can even take an upmarket tour for similar priced tour which is non-shifting. Your Azizia dig can be within walking distance from jamaraat should you wish to go there for shower or rest etc after you have done the stone throwing.
CON: Haram is difficult to access from Azizia unless you are very energetic and can walk from Azizia every day for your salah and tawaaf. Tour operator has to make good travel arrangements Unless your tour operator GUARANTEEs that your Azizia accommodation is a room housing upto 6 sharing with own attached WC, the stay there will be rather crowded and can be upto 12 people in a room and just one WC to be shared between two rooms.

This means a tour that will have one hotel in Makkah itself and you will have access to your room when you are in Mina camps for the 5 days of haj. Your luggage remains in the Makkah hotel room. The tour can be either to Makkah first till you go to Mina and return back to Makkah after haj. On or after 14 z hajj you will be taken to Madina and from there you return back to your country. Alternatively, you can be taken to Madina from your country and brought to Makka before Haj. Then you go to Mina for haj and return back to the same hotel after hajj until your return back to your country.
PROS: You have access to your hotel room all the time you are in Makkah. Your hotel may be as near as across the King's Palaces (higher cost tour) to a distance upto 800 meters (medium priced). Haram is just down the road.
CON: The rate is higher for the tour.
Transit Umrah Visa in Home Country Consulate
Transit, by definition, means when you are passing through Saudi Arabia and traveling further to another destination.
Approved Travel Agent will arrange your transit visa with Saudi Consulate in your country and book your itinerary. Usually the travel agent also books your transportation & accomodation. But you can also do your hotel booking. Check hotels on FlyHajj.com.
Important Points to Note:
- Immigration can still refuse you Umrah. Change into ihram when Immigration has cleared you for Umrah.
- When getting out of Terminal, Check Jeddah White Colored Taxis (should not cost more than 200 SAR!).
- Do not plan 'Madinah'. You only have 72 hours and you can NOT manage it!
- Note down Umra Company Name (on right side half way in Arabic on the Visa on your Passport).
- Mandoub will retain your passport (unless you have passport form a western country). You will be given temporary identificaiton. You need to ensure you are given full address of the company's offices where your passport will be moved and their opening hours and contact numbers. This is important because you have to notify them in advance about all your movements so that the passport is made ready for you.
